For many years I have combined my love of craft and making with education in formal and informal settings and schools.
I started with wood working and boat building to connect with urban youth,
My practice and skill set has evolved into hot metal work using blacksmitihng techniques and cold forming copper using the tools and techniques of chasing / repousse.
The goals are the same. Use art making and craft to teach, inspire and learn with other people.
My artistic vision and practice is to use the qualities of metal especially hot metal to bend, twist, split, taper and shape steel like clay.
Using these characteristics I like to create sculptural and functional art using forging techniques and processes.
