Monsters are metaphors for humanity. They symbolize the obstacles in life that, if viewed in the right light, will lead us to those elusive things that pull us through, carry us when we can't see a way. I am inspired by those things that compel us to stretch our boundaries, expand our capabilities and strengthen our spirits in order to grow and serve others growth on this magical journey of life. Usually these things are simply the daily activities of life and the people we share them with. Dancing, doing yoga, going for a walk, eating good food, hugging, playing the ukelele... And above all, little acts of kindness for others. What a gift we have! A complex and mysterious one which we can squander or relish - and we do both! I hope my Art helps articulate the mystery and rouse the creator in us. But mostly, I hope my art inspires playfulness, smiles, laughter, and dreaming big in others.
From clay, I sculpt funky, whimsical art pieces. I sell my creations in my Northeast Minneapolis art studio, at fairs and festivals and online at my Etsy shop. When I can, I enjoy meeting my artworks' new owners and getting an idea of where my magical little artworks are headed.
Creating bright, playful custom works of art gives me the awesome joy of capturing the essence of what my clients want to express or memories they want to preserve. Monsters are my thing, but I sculpt human, animal and plant forms as well. I love to design personalized pieces for your garden, home, office or business.
By teaching workshops, facilitating birthday parties and conducting custom workshops for groups, I provide a safe space that's beneficial to the creative process and that will ignite each participant’s imagination. I demonstrate various basic techniques that each student Artist can personalize. Whether parties or group workshops take place in my studio or at your location, the results are good creative fun!
Since age 8, I’ve been sculpting with polymer clay. As an adult I have studied earth clay sculpture, primarily with experienced artists Adama Sow and Krissy Kat at the Edina Art Center. I have shown my work in local fairs and shows, including Art-A-Whirl, the nation’s largest open studio tour.
It would be my pleasure to work with you as a student, custom sculpture client or group leader. I’m also interested in participating in art shows, homeschool fairs and other events.
