This week’s episode features a full-length phone interview with Mr. Dibbs, along with eight tracks from the innovative turntablist. While you’re there at the Some Assembly Required website, be sure to also check out last week’s Q&A with Janek Schaefer at the SAR Blog.

I met London’s Janek Schaefer while he was in Minnesota working on “Weather Report,” which we heard a segment of in last week’s episode (#158). This “found sound story” was produced in Minneapolis in 2002, while Schaefer was here on behalf of the American Composers Forum, as a McKnight Composer in Residence. The record was co-released by the Minnesota based record label, Alluvial Recordings, and audiOh! which is run by Janek Schaefer. Check out last week’s SAR Blog feature on Janek Schaefer to learn even more about the artist and his work.

Our featured artist on the program this week is Mr. Dibbs, a DJ and hip hop producer from Cincinnati, Ohio. He’s well known for his work with 1200 Hobos, and as a co-founder of the hugely popular hip hop festival, Scribble Jam, which has been drawing thousands and thousands of people to Cincinnati, every summer for the past ten years. My interview with Mr. Dibbs includes eight tracks from just six of his almost three dozen records. Check out this week’s episode to learn much more about the Rhymesayers Entertainment DJ.

In other news: Last week’s Girl Talk show at the Varsity Theater was a major success! Thanks to everyone who came down and danced with Greg Gillis of Girl Talk, who more than lived up to his reputation for throwing an out of control dance party. Check out L’etoile Magazine’s Blog to see photos taken at the event.

Now go check out the SAR Q&A with Janek Schaefer, at the SAR Blog, and listen to the Some Assembly Required interview with Mr. Dibbs in this week’s episode of Some Assembly Required. Download it HERE.

Thanks for listening!
