Northern Minnesota's passion for the arts is celebrated in the Bemidji Sculpture Walk. A selection committee composed of art professionals from the community will select up to twenty sculptures that are of the best quality and workmanship.

Call for entries for the Bemidji Sculpture Walk

 

Northern Minnesota's passion for the arts is celebrated in the Bemidji Sculpture Walk. A selection committee composed of art professionals from the community will select up to twenty sculptures that are of the best quality and workmanship. A $200 honorarium will be awarded to each exhibitor, courtesy of a local business sponsor or community member.

First prize award of $1,000 will be given to the People’s Choice award winner.
Second Prize award of $500 will be given to the Critic’s Choice award winner.
Honorable mention will receive $250

There will be an artist’s reception and awards ceremony at the Lake Bemidji Rotary Pavilion at 5pm on Saturday, June 9, 2007 for both the artists and sponsors to celebrate the installation of the new show. Food and refreshments will be provided.

The delivery of works will be on Friday, June 8th, and Saturday, June 9th to coincide with the reception.

Sculptors must submit the following items and have the envelope postmarked on or before March 15, 2007:

· Information about the sculpture, including: title, materials, price, insurance value, size and a description of the process to make it

· CD rom of works and/or a high quality photo

· Photos will be accepted; numbered & labeled with your name, title, media and date made A written proposal for a sculpture will be accepted, along with back-up criteria

· SASE for return of materials

· Please include if available a Biographical/Artist Statement & Artist Resume

I hereby make application to exhibit in the Bemidji Sculpture Walk for the year of 2007 - 2008. I have read and fully accept the conditions set forth in this prospectus as legally binding.

Accepted sculptors must sign this loan agreement in which the owners of the art:

Permit the sponsors of the artwork to install the work with or without the artist's assistance.

Agree that the artwork will remain on display from June 9th of 2007 through May 2008.

Agree that BSW/City of Bemidji may remove damaged sculpture in the absence of prompt and satisfactory repair by the artist in the interest of public safety.

Agree to be responsible for the delivery and pick-up of sculptures at the designated times.

All work must be of sound design and free standing. Ready to be placed in an outdoor public space in downtown Bemidji, MN.

This project has gained great public acclaim and overwhelming responses from community members and visitors alike. Numerous works from the Sculpture Walk have been sold to businesses and individuals each year. The Sculpture Walk has been featured in articles in Minnesota Monthly, the Minneapolis Star and Tribune, Grand Forks Herald and the Bemidji Pioneer.
