Basics of searching and tips for getting more accurate results.

MNARTISTS.ORG SEARCH BASICS The search box at the top of every mnartists.org page searches all record types -- artists, organizations, articles, works. To enter a query, just type in a few descriptive words and hit the 'enter' key (or click on the Search button). By default, mnartists.org only returns records that include all of the words that you enter.

Automatic Exclusion of Common Words mnartists.org searches ignore common words and characters such as "will" and "how," as well as certain single digits and single letters.

Word Variations (Wildcard Searches) To find the widest range of results, mnartists.org supports "stemming" or "wildcard" searches. Stemming is always applied to the word(s) that you enter in the search box at the top of every mnartists.org page. It is not automatically applied in advanced search. An asterisk (*) stands in for any number of characters. A question mark (?) stands in for any single character.
