Producer Marya Morstad continues the “Radio mnartists” series of podcasts and KFAI radio interviews with Minnesota artists. Listen to her interview with Visual Artist Mary Bergs.

Mary Bergs is a visual artist who works in 2D and 3D media, using materials from nature and culture to create work that cultivates careful examination and momentary awareness. Her work explores relationships among disparate objects and changes in meaning that occur when these objects are placed in a new context. Bergs has a BFA degree from the University of Minnesota as well as degrees in psychology and social work. She has received a Minnesota State Arts Board Career Opportunity Grant and a Jerome Foundation Travel Study Grant. She is employed as the Art and Design Consultant at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.

A collaborative installation by local artists Mary Bergs and Monica Reede Metropolitan State University Third Floor Gallery The Library and Learning Center, 645 East Seventh Street, Saint Paul.

The exhibit opens Thursday, April 19 with a reception from 4–7 p.m. A creative music performance executed with traditional instruments and sculpture objects will be presented by Douglas Ewart and Inventions from 5-6 p.m.
