This month articles pay homage to the richly varied performance scene in Minnesota and especially to those artists who step outside convention to make shows on their own terms. And, mnartists.org offers a fond goodbye to Project Director Kathleen Kvern.

A new issue of 10,000 Arts: Minnesota's Creative Quarterly (co-published by mnartists.org and The Rake magazine) is hot off the presses and available in galleries across the state and on newsstands around the Twin Cities inside The Rake. This issue of our quarterly art magazine, "Off the Wall: Performance as Art," salutes the rogues, innovators, and other independent-minded artists who are crossing traditional boundaries of genre and style to bring "performance" into uncharted, exciting territories.

Look for the longer, linkier versions of those 10,000 Arts articles, which will start off a whole month's peformance extravaganza here in MnArts, from a look at the life of a modern-day muse to reviews of the much hyped St. Paul Chamber Ballet debut and the Sabes Jewish Community Center's ambitious new production by Craig Harris,Five Books. Plus: an essay on eagerly anticipated collaborative theatrical production You're My Kind of Pretty, a profile of New Media peformance artist Piotr Szyhalski by the Weisman's Diane Mullin, Michael Fallon on artist genesis stories, and much more.

In the forums, Kate Iverson (Density Studios) joins our team to launch a new moderated, ongoing category of fun forums on local music and fashion. Look for the debut of the CultureHERD forums this week and join Kate for a conversation about Minnesota fashion, music, and get the scoop on what's happening out and about town.
