Episode 223 features 15 tracks by artists such as DJ Abilities, B'O'K, The Bran Flakes, The Button, Escape Mechanism, The Evolution Control Committee, Forty One, Harbor, DJ Haste, notv, Overdub, RIAA, Alyce Santoro, DJ Schmolli and Steinski. Check it out HERE.
Standouts abound this week as I’ve programmed a couple of Nirvana-themed mashups, by RIAA and Overdub, along with my favorite track by Forty One (“Love Everybody” - an impossible goal, really, but an excellent ideal). However, possibly my favorite this week is yet another mashup, by the Austrian Bastard Pop artist DJ Schmolli. “Mash Me Amadeus” brings out the best from classics by Falco, AC/DC, Beyoncé, Dr.Dre, Jay-Z, Madonna, Queen, The Chemical Brothers (and more), forcing them to shine in ways in which the original authors, frankly, just never would have figured out how to do on their own…
Look at the SAR Blog for this week’s Q&A with multi-media artist Alyce Santoro, as well. Check it out HERE, along with a list of links to every Q&A we’ve done since 2006. Oh, and you can download Episode 223 HERE..
Thanks for listening!
