The Precious Object brings together 14 artists from locales throughout Minnesota in the inaugural exhibition of mnartists.org's ARTmn visual arts series, presented in partnership with the Hennepin County Public Library

Paula McCartney received an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and currently lives in Minneapolis. She has exhibited at venues including KLOMPCHING Gallery (Brooklyn), the Houston Center for Photography, Photographic Center Northwest (Seattle), Newspace Center for Photography (Portland), Rooke Gallery, (Johannesburg, South Africa), Contemporary Art Galleries at the University of Connecticut (Storrs), San Francisco Arts Commission Gallery, San Francisco Center for the Book, and regionally at the Rochester Art Center, Soo Visual Arts and the Minnesota Museum of American Art. She is the recipient of artist fellowships from the McKnight Foundation (2007) and the Aaron Siskind Foundation (2004), an Artist Residency at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (2006) and an Artist's Book Production Grant from the Women's Studio Workshop (2005). McCartney's works are represented in the collections of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco Legion of Honor, the Midwest Photographers Project at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Museum of Modern Art, the New York Public Library, UCLA Arts Library, the Walker Art Center and Yale University, among others.  She is represented by KLOMPCHING Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.  Princeton Architectural Press will publish a monograph of her work, titled Bird Watching, in Spring 2010.
