Some Assembly Required is a weekly focus on sample based music and audio art. Host Jon Nelson explores the world of sound collage via this weekly podcast of his nationally syndicated radio program.

Episode 26, Some Assembly Required

Local music producer, Chris Strouth, joined us in 2002 for a show dedicated to the art of appropriation in electronic music, as practiced by Minnesota artists (Episode 26). It turned out to be a good show, with a good mix of styles, by artists such as DJ Abilities, Dada Legion, Escape Mechanism, King Paisley and the Psycho-del-ics, Mindphaseone, Orchid Spangiafora, John Richey, Sarah Jane Smith, Splatt, Think Tank and Ts & Filmore Diggz. Check it out HERE.

Probably my favorite moment in this week’s episode is when we played Dada Legion’s “The New #2” off of Audiocon’s Various Artists release, “Big Game Hunter.” Hearing it brought back memories of 1992, and listening to industrial and dance music at First Avenue, in Minneapolis. Those were the days…

Be sure to check out the SAR Blog for Q&A’s with over 150 of the artists we play weekly on Some Assembly Required, and download Episode 26 HERE.

Thanks for listening,

Jon Nelson
