Especially in these lean times, it's a happy occasion to offer congratulations to Minnesota's crop of newly named award-winning artists. The McKnight, Jerome, and Bush Foundations have been sending out a flurry of announcements about the recipients of this year's big-ticket fellowships and grants, given to artists and organizations working across a wide spectrum of disciplines. The first fruits of the recently passed Legacy Amendment are beginning to ripen across the state, as artists and organizations put those civic arts and cultural funds to use in their communities. With all the fellowship exhibitions and shows going on this summer, not to mention a variety of new arts programs specifically designed to engage the public, you have plenty of opportunities to see the results of such support for yourself in the coming weeks.
