Episode 256, Some Assembly Required
Episode 256 features work by Alien Army, The Bran Flakes, DJ Danger Mouse, Go Home Productions, Junk Culture, DJ Lobsterdust, Negativland, Noisy Stylus, Okapi, John Oswald, Realistic, Donna Summer, Timmy The Tapeworm, Whimsical Will and Hal Willner. Check it out HERE.
Two new artists on the Illegal Art label feature prominently in this week’s episode. Okapi and Junk Culture both have new CDs out this year and we were able to do a Q&A with Deepak Mantena of Junk Culture. Check it out HERE. Another noteworthy track is “Hey Iron Man” by Whimsical Will, who informs me that this will be the last in his summer movie series of cut-up interviews. Every summer, for the past 25 years, Whimsical Will produced a new break-in track, based on the theme of a popular summer movie from that year, and “Hey Iron Man” is the last installment in that series. Check it out towards the middle of this week’s episode!
Be sure to check out the SAR Blog, at its new location: www.blog.some-assembly-required.net. You’ll find Q&A’s with over 150 of the artists we play weekly on Some Assembly Required, along with countless archived episodes of the show. You can find this week’s episode there as well.
