Some Assembly Required is a weekly focus on sample based music and audio art. Host Jon Nelson explores the world of sound collage via this weekly podcast of his nationally syndicated radio program.
Episode 258, Some Assembly Required
Episode 258 features work by The Bran Flakes, Ros Bobos, Coldcut, DJ Earworm, Extrakd & Eddie Def, Flying White Dots, g4gorilla, Junk Culture, Lenlow, North American Boat Show, People Like Us and Matmos, Jeffrey Sconce and Twink. Check it out HERE.
One of the standouts in Episode 258 is DJ Earworm’s United States of Pop 2009, subtitled “Blame it On the Pop”. DJ Earworm literally wrote the book on Bastard Pop, in 2006. Titled “Audio Mashup Construction Kit”, the publication starts with music theory and song selection before moving on to more advanced topics and includes a chapter on the history of Mashups. You can check out the 2008 installment of United States of Pop in Episode 247, and the original in Episode 222. Let’s hope for a new installment this coming January…
