Tenure-Track, Assistant Professor in Studio Foundation and 3D
Position Description: Full-time, tenure-track position in Studio Foundation and 3D. Primary responsibility is ongoing instruction in introductory 3D and 2D Design Foundation courses. The position will also involve instruction in intermediate and advanced courses in the 3D Emphasis Area, based on applicant's skills and experience. Areas of expertise may include: fabrication, installation, woodworking, modeling, mold-making, foundry, digital media, public art and /or other areas.
Other responsibilities include: participation in program and curriculum development; work with Department Foundation Coordinator to develop Foundation curriculum; studio/tool maintenance; student advising; Department and University service; and continued pursuit of professional creative work or research.
Department/University Description: The UWSP Department of Art and Design is a NASAD accredited program offering BFA degrees with an emphasis in 2D, 3D, and Graphic Design; and BA degrees with a Studio Arts or Art History emphasis. Studio Foundation courses are an important required component for all emphases in the Department.
The UWSP Department of Art & Design Foundation curriculum is an immersion into various media and processes. Students problem-solve by seeing, thinking and crafting to create a body of foundation work. The Foundation curriculum also introduces students to the department and prepares them for continued study in the program.
The Department of Art & Design is part of the UWSP College of Fine Arts and Communication, which houses five academic units: Art & Design, Communications, Music, Theatre & Dance, and the Aber Suzuki Center. The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is a fully accredited 4-year liberal arts campus in the University of Wisconsin system.
