There will be no mnLIT call for writers this year - mnartists.org's What Light and miniStories contests are on hiatus for 2011-2012

mnartists.org has been proud to publish hundreds of poems and stories by Minnesota writers in the past five years. Our What Light Poetry Project and miniStories flash fiction competitions have offered a terrific way to bring a diversity of literary voices before appreciative arts audiences.

This year, reluctantly and after long deliberation and two years of consistently waning submissions from local writers, we've decided to put the competition and publication series on hold for now, as we re-evaluate our literary programming so that it will continue to best serve the needs of our region's talented writers.

But that doesn't mean fiction and poetry are disappearing from our homepage. Quite the contrary: mmnartists.org plans to begin publishing original fiction and poetry among the regularly commissioned editorial content - articles, reviews, and essays - in 2012. Look for submission guidelines for poetry and fiction to come by December 2011.
