During the run of their previous production, "A Short Play About 9/11" Workhaus Collective experimented with opening up the lobby space to local artists whose work might reflect, echo or resonate with the themes of the play.  The experiment was such a great success we're doing it again.  "Flesh & The Desert" is a kaleidoscopic view of life in Las Vegas, past and present, through the prism of three different sets of lovers-an old-time Chorus Girl and her union musician Husband; the Gangster Bugsy Siegel and his Wife; and a contemporary hotel maid and the mysterious young man she meets in the desert.  The play examines showbiz, love, greed, and the miracle of this strange desert city with a unique mixture of cynicism and romance.  Artists should contact Workhaus if they wish to read the play, or simply submit digital images they feel might resonate with the work.  Workhaus will transform the Playwrights' Center lobby into a gallery space for an exhibition that will open the same night as the play, January 20th, and run until the play closes on January 28th.

Artist Responsibilities: Artists must deliver their work to The Playwrights' Center no later than January 17th and pick up their work on January 29th. Artworks are on display at the artist's own risk.

Workhaus support: Workhaus will throw a combination opening night reception for both "Flesh & The Desert" and the accompanying exhibition.  Artists may invite guests and the work will be for sale should the artist so wish.  Workhaus will take no commission for any sales.

Show Dates:  January 20th - January 19th - January 28th
