The Becker County Historical Society and Museum seeks artists to create works for their “Keeping History Alive” annual fundraiser.
The event, to be held Friday March 23, 2012 at the Historic Holmes Theater Ballroom in Detroit Lakes, MN, includes a silent and live auction, a raffle, and other games. Proceeds benefit the Becker County Historical Society and Museum.
Artists must create a work of art that "makes the old new"...this can be through the addition of objects connected to the artist's history (photos, letters, objects) OR by using a selection of objects available at the Becker County Museum as a base for your piece OR both. These objects will be available for view and selection beginning January 10, 2012 at the Becker County Museum, 714 Summit Avenue, Detroit Lakes, MN 56502. 10 artists will be chosen to complete work for the live auction and 10 artists will be chosen to complete work for the silent auction, with a 60/40 split being shared (60% to BCHS, 40% to artist). Artists will receive 2 tickets to the event and their names/work will be used in publicity.
Artwork needs to meet the following:
No larger than 3 ft x 3 ft
Easy to move and display
Incorporate something that "makes the old new"
*It can be made with any type of media
Artists should submit:
Name, address, phone number, e-mail
5 examples of their work
Statement of intent for project
If they would like to be considered for the live auction, silent auction, or both

Artists will be notified by February 6. Completed pieces must be in the hands of the Becker County Historical Society by Friday March 16.
