The Minnesota Shorts Play Festival is taking submissions from January 1st through April 15th.
MANKATO -- The Minnesota Shorts Play Festival will be taking submissions starting Jan. 1st for its fifth annual festival September 5-6 at the Mankato West Theater in Mankato.
Up to 16 plays will be chosen, with 12 receiving $100 stipends and the other four receiving $50 stipends. Each winner also has a chance to win the $100 Best of the Fest audience prize, thanks to a grant from Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council.

This year, Thursday night will be reserved to show the top 8 short plays written by Minnesota playwrights. Friday night will feature the top 8 plays from all other writers across the country. Minnesota writers may submit TWO entries to the festival. The deadline is Noon, April 15. Scripts must be 12 pages or less and should be e-mailed to mnshorts@yahoo.com in a pdf or doc format. Put your name, postal address, e-mail and phone contact on the title page so judges will not know who has written the script.

Last year more than 400 scripts were received. Judging takes place in May and June, with winners announced in late June.
