Walker Art Center seeks Performing Arts Department Coordinator. Deadline January 25, 2013.

The Walker seeks a full-time, non-exempt Department Coordinator for our renowned Performing Arts department. The Coordinator provides a full-range of administrative coordination for program projects and events, supports the Senior Curator (travel details and reports, appointments, creating presentations), and assists other department staff in a wide range of program-related duties as needed. This position manages the department intern program (including creation of performance program notes); oversees annual public Season Launch; manages season brochure content/photos, and coordinates various patron events. This position also coordinates social media activity with Marketing and related new media content with the Web Editor; supports grant writing/reporting; and helps organize logistics for artist site visits including hospitality, travel, and accommodations. The Coordinator serves as liaison between the Senior Curator and the public for incoming and outgoing communications.

Qualifications include:

  • arts administration or related degree with practical experience in an arts discipline and project management
  • 2+ years of administrative support experience
  • highly organized, efficient, a natural multitasker, and experience and interest in contemporary performing arts
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills and poise
  • strengths in marketing, social media, and public relations; development/grant management experience; travel and event planning
  • detail oriented
  • ability to work effectively with a wide range of people (artists, funders, community partners)
  • capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced department; and the ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities
  • knowledge and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (PC), database systems, and Internet required; knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign is a plus.
