The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) at Boston University is pleased to announce dates and details for its 18th annual highly regarded juried photography exhibition, Exposure. Deadline March 3, 2013.
PRC Announces Juried Photography Exhibition:  Exposure 2013
This year’s juror: Karen Haas, the Lane Curator of Photographs at the MFA, Boston
 
What: Exposure is the PRC’s annual juried exhibition, open to emerging photographers across North America and beyond. Juror Karen Haas, Lane Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, will select work by eight contemporary photographers to comprise the eighteenth iteration of this show.
 
When: The exhibition will run from Tuesday, June 4 through Saturday, July 27, 2013. The opening night reception is scheduled for Thursday, June 6 at 6:30 pm.
 
Where: The exhibition and reception will take place in the PRC Gallery located at 832 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
 
Who: Juror Karen E. Haas has served as the Lane Curator of Photographs at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston for the last decade, where she is responsible for a large collection of photographs by American modernists such as Charles Sheeler, Edward Weston, Ansel Adams, and Imogen Cunningham. The Lane Collection, which has recently been given to the Museum, numbers more than 6,000 prints and ranges across the entire history of western photography from William Henry Fox Talbot to the Starn twins. Before coming to the MFA, Haas held various curatorial positions in Boston-area museums and private collections, including the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, the Boston University Art Gallery, and the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover. She holds a BA in Art History from Connecticut College; received her MA at Boston University; and taught the history of photography at both Boston University and Boston College. Her recent exhibitions include: Edward Weston: Leaves of Grass; Conversations: Photography from the Bank of America Collection; Modernist Photography, 1910-1950; Viva Mexico!—Edward Weston and His Contemporaries; and Ansel Adams. Her publications include: An Enduring Vision: Photographs from the Lane Collection; MFA Highlights: Photography; Ansel Adams; and The Photography of Charles Sheeler: American Modernist.
 
Awards:
Best of Show: Selected by juror from winning entries. $500 cash prize.
Staff Picks: PRC staff will select two entries to be exhibited in Loupe, the journal of the PRC, and in NEO, the PRC’s monthly online gallery.
 
Submission Process: This competition is open to emerging photographers who are members of the PRC. Membership information and benefits can be found on our website. Artists are asked to submit up to ten images, an artist statement, and a short biography.

Submissions Open: Monday, February 11, 2013
Submissions Deadline: Sunday, March 3, 2013 at midnight EST
