Melody Gilbert(Director/Producer/Editor/Cinematographer/ Educator) is an award-winning independent documentary filmmaker from St. Paul, Minnesota, who has worked in film and television for 20 years. She has directed, produced, filmed and edited three independent feature-length documentaries including MARRIED AT THE MALL (of America, that is), WHOLE, about amputee wannabes and A LIFE WITHOUT PAIN, about children who have no sensation in their bodies, which premiered at the 2005 South By Southwest Film Festival (in competition) and is scheduled to be featured in a segment on The Oprah Show in October 2005.
She is currently filming URBAN EXPLORERS: INTO THE DARKNESS about adventure-seekers who find it in strange places.
Morstad’s winning proposal was selected for the Innovate mnartists.org award from dozens of proposals submitted. Radio mnartists will be broadcast on Art Matters, every Friday at 11am on KFAI Fresh Air Community Radio-FM Radio – 90.3 in Minneapolis and 106.7 in St. Paul and posted online every Friday on www.mnartists.org. Composer Ken Brahmstedt will assist in the production of the series.
