Segment One: mnartists.org is a free online database that serves both artists and people who enjoy art. Access to Art correspondent Beth Peloff talked with some of the people behind the website about what it is and how artists and art appreciators can use it. From MnArtsWeekly, our webjournal covering all the arts, to access&Engage, our bimonthly email newsletter, mnartists provides both in-depth and timely arts coverage. Find out more about it here.
From there we will segue into a segment about What Light, a weekly poetry series on the mnartists.org website, which is one of the many regular features that appear on the site. For more viewing options, go here.
At the mnartists.org booth at the Minnesota State Fair, Access to Art host Tom Cassidy talks with Will Lager, mnartists.org's community liaison.
Segment Two: Minnesota Stories Presents mnartists. Chuck Olsen and Lori Erickson are vloggers who make videos and present the video work of other people. Chuck is the brains behind Minnesota Stories and Lori writes about gardening for a worldwide Web audience.
They have a collaboration with mnartists.org: "Minnesota Stories Presents mnartists." Their most recent project for mnartists was to show how to use the site's event calendar to find an event. MTN Access to Art correspondent John Akre traveled with this pair as they attended an art opening they found on the calendar. For more viewing options, go here.
Following this, we go to the Minnesota State Fair, where Access to Art host Tom Cassidy talks with Kathleen Kvern, the Project Director for mnartists.org.
Segment Three: Northrup King Building Artists on mnartists.org. About 130 artists work out of studios in the Northrup King Building at Jackson off of Central Avenue in Northeast Minneapolis. Many of the artists there use their listing on the mnartists.org website to attract new audiences and communicate with their current audiences and clients. Access to Art correspondent Megan Cullen wandered the halls and talked to artists about their work and their connection to mnartists.org.
Back at the Minnesota State Fair, Access to Art host Tom Cassidy talks with Ange Tank and Kristin Helle, two volunteers working at the mnartists.org booth. For more viewing options, go here.
