I think the standouts this week are a couple of tracks by Donna Summer (aka Jason Forrest). "Time and its other" and "Melodrama in transformation" are from his fourth album, titled “This Needs To Be Your Style” (Irritant, 2003). His 2005 release, “Shamelessly Exciting,” (Sonig) is one of my favorite breakcore albums of all time. Listening to tracks from just these two albums will show a definite evolution in his style in just two years. I’m eagerly awaiting his next release. Most recently he’s been working under the name Donna Summer again, this time as DJ Donna Summer (up until 2004, he used the DS moniker exclusively). You can check out a lot of mixes and information at his website – it’s linked to from our Q&A with him, HERE.
Be sure to check in next week for our phone interview with one of the founding members of the influential Canadian record label, DOVentertainment. Check out our 2007 Q&A with DOV’s Charles Watson HERE, and stay tuned…
