Karen Kopacz is an art director, graphic and Web designer, illustrator, writer and musician. She is a graduate of Columbia College where she studied fine art and writing. Kopacz is director and founder of the monthly online arts and literature magazine Mental Contagion, launched in 2000. Karen was a panel member in SXSW's 2005 Interactive Festival and her Web design has been featured in the printed design anthology "Portfolios Online." She is a former art director of First Avenue’s In-House Magazine, has written a column and photographed for Pitchfork and has been publishing zines and collaborating with artists, writers and musicians for 20 years. Her writing and photography have been featured in a variety of publications.
