Experience

Artist Statement:

The endless possibilities and continuous evolution of new life forms and their impact on humanity inspires Alison Hiltner's work. Created from equal parts reality and fantasy, her art explores the possible life that inhabits vast expanses of the deep seas, rainforest floors and the intimate interiors of the human body. Inserted infestations immerse audiences in a new world where strange creatures struggle to evolve, adapt and flourish as they co-opt the objects of our mundane surroundings. The resulting work is an exploration of one potential path in an alternate natural history, blending the ordinary with the comically awkward yet strangely enchanting flora and fauna.
