Bio:
Mika Turner was born in Spokane, Washington in 1980. She has worked with emerging Minnesotan artists, such as singer-electro-musician Bethany Lacktorin, as well as internationally known artists Stefan-Brisland Ferner and Totte Mattson of the Swedish Roots band: The Hurdy Gurdy Project; to create new avante garde video works.
Mika Turner's solo video works, "Sleeper;Ghost" were funded by Northwestern University. Her first collaborative performance-new media work, "To Twin Resonance," was made possible by the Jerome Foundation and Intermedia Arts' Naked Stages Program. This performance has also enabled her to work with the guidance of local film and dance director Shawn McConneloug. Mika Turner's video co-production with visual artist Rebecca Graham, "A Pretty, Pretty Day" is in the private collection of filmaker Vincent Gallo. Her first collection of sound art works was released in 2003, by Best of Greatest Hits Records, Chicago.
Mika Turner atteneded Northwestern University, Evanston, IL and studied with acclaimed composer Amnon Wolman and guitarist Ann Waller. She received a Bachelor degree in music in 2001.
