Experience

Brian Carroll studied architecture at the University of Minnesota College of Architecture (CALA) and networked multimedia computing at the Multimedia Studies Program at San Francisco State University, College of Independent Learning. He completed his thesis 'the Architecture of Electricity' and published it online on Y2K, exploring the 2,500 year development of the electrical infrastructure from an architectural perspective. The essay "Seeing Cyberspace" in 2G International Architectural Review (n.18) further makes the case that the electrical infrastructure is architecture. After 9/11, a proposal for a World Trade Center Memorial Park was submitted to the NYNJ Port Authority and he was invited to NYC to participate in final 9/11 Memorial deliberations. He has also proposed a new Gateway Park along the riverfront in downtown Minneapolis. A few years ago he was correctly diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome and has been rebuilding his life from within this new and accurate context. His best friend has been an orphaned deer he met downtown and walked with along the Mississippi River to release her into a state park. In general his artwork explores metaphysics in various mediums, with recent focus on looping patterns of sound and light via illuminated juggling, ballooning, and musical investigation. His goal is to develop an Asperger Management System (AMS), a research platform for a next generation home computing infrastructure to provide life support and life management services, akin to a technological service animal, to help people in their lives. A small sample of his work can be seen here. A two volume autobiography was completed in 2012. He was developing a website for music literacy and new music instruments yet the research activity was stopped and discarded due to harassment.
