My sewing career started as most do, sewing clothes. I even designed my own wedding dress. Then I developed an interest in home decor and started creating anything from placemats, runners and pillows. Somewhere in the middle of this, I made and sold my first wall quilt. That's when I discovered my focus. Although my earlier work took a more traditional look, the discovery of batiks, screened prints, hand dyed fabrics inspired me to begin creating landscapes. After I learned to paint fabric, I no longer had to hunt for sky fabric. I could make the skies any color I wanted. Today my focus in mainly landscapes, some are of real places, some are what I think the place would look like. My method is to grab a sky, grab a foreground and create the scene from my head. All the landscape quilts are topography quilted..... a technique use to highlight the colors and nuances of the fabric. I'm a self taught artist, never took a quilting class and to this day, have not make a quilt for a bed...... nor would I attempt to. I create landscapes...... Color With A View!

Seventeenth Ceres Friends Exhibition
Ceres Artist Friends share their visual perceptions and show their support for the gallery.
Round landscapes were created as part of a collaborative effort. They fit inside a hat box lid, which represents a radio receiver dish. The collaborative effort consists of a resistor radio, polymor clay speakers in the shape of fish and the hat box lid. This is so far "outside the box", it shatters the box!
So what will be displayed are "Fish Resistor Radios". The sound from the radio comes out of the fish's mouths. And you are saying: "Huh?", which is precisely what the curator said at the gallery!
