Experience

My love for art and for writing has lasted now for almost 64 years and is part of my life as if it were a child of mine, a sibling or a friend. I worked to support it, shared it, rarely tried to sell, lived it and learned it, taught what I knew to others, usually children … eventually earning a BA in Studio Arts along the way... applying my skills to ceramic sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking ....

It seems that one of the most crucial elements to creating a work of art is honesty, first and foremost, as a child might be in essence; and this can take a lifetime of self-discovery ... unlearning those things we have been taught that serve to create a chasm between what we create and who we are.

As a result, in my experience, I find that developing the skills and tools is not as difficult and elusive as retaining those things that cannot be taught ... that is, the heart, the grace and clarity of that child newborn and filled with wonder for a world so full of possibilities.
