Alan Slacter's varied interest and experience led him to earn a BFA from the University of Minnesota, building on his psychology and art history focused BA. His involvement in the artistic community has included board membership on the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Print Council and teaching stone carving, metal casting and mixed media sculpture at community art centers.

Alan's sculpture is held in private collections and has been exhibited in numerous venues since 2002, including the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, Phipps Center for the Arts, Katherine E. Nash Gallery, Minnesota State Fair and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
His stone carving, Cold Mountain, is currently on exhibit at Franconia Sculpture Park. A metal casting, Raptor, was recendtly added to the permanent collection of the University of Minnesota Regis Center for the Arts.
