Experience

Relocated to the Twin Cities area, currently living in Eagan. Graphic Designer and artist, primarily lettering arts. Create original fine art and designs for reproduction. Clients include Bibelot, Macalester College, Mayo Clinic, Thrivent, The Printery House, Anchor Wallace Publishers, Ardie and Friends, as well as many private commissions. Have recently been approached by American Greetings to create freelance designs for them.
Recently worked as a contract graphic artist and government-level proposal formatter. Am also editor of the Signet, monthly newsletter of the Colleagues of Calligraphy, a guild based in Minneapolis.
Create custom-order artwork, calligraphy, logo design, interior wall lettering, & other lettering art (signs, hunting maps on deer hides - you name it!) on a freelance basis.
Individual artwork and cards may be purchased at Bibelot, Minneapolis & St. Paul; Edina Art Center, Edina; 225 Water Street, Jordan; and Stone's Throw Gallery, St. Peter.
Recently completed courses in Dreamweaver (website design software by Adobe) offered through the Science Museum, St. Paul. Use Illustrator and Photoshop in private and corporate work on both Mac and PC platforms.
Member of Colleagues of Calligraphy, a lettering arts guild located in Minneapolis. Currently on the planning committee for the 2009 Connection, an international calligraphy & lettering arts conference to be held at St. John's University, Collegville.
Have studied with Julian Waters, Carl Rohrs, Timothy Botts, Peter Thornton, Martin Jackson, Nancy Culmone, Louise Grunewald, Lindley McDougall, Connie Furgason, Diane Von Arx Anderson, Barbara Close, Denny Ruud, Charles Pearce, etc.
Attended, through grant award, the 2002 Calligraphy Connection, an international gathering of lettering artists. Attended workshop taught by Annie Cicale.
Attended week-long workshop taught by Julian Waters at the Black & White Conference, July 2006, in Seattle, WA.
Attended week-long workshop taught by John Stevens in May 2005, at Cheerio, North Carolina.

Awards

Selected as designer of the 2005 Macalester College Chaplaincy's poster given to all incoming freshman students.
Received grants from the McKnight Foundation in 2000 & 2002.

Exhibitions/Performance History

Artwork currently on display & for sale at 225 Water Street, Jordan; the Edina Art Center, Edina; and at Stone's Throw Gallery, St. Peter.
In 2006, created & framed three large "Welcome" pictures Macalester College Chaplaincy, which are prominently displayed at each of the chapel's entrances.
Designed 2005 poster for the Macalester College Chapel, St. Paul, MN.
Designs bulletins, letterheads, & envelopes for Anchor Wallace Publishers.
Designed 2005 - 2008 volunteer thank-you cards for Thrivent. Have also been commissioned by them for other projects.
Work with PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc. in a Mac environment. Reprints are printed on an Epson Photo 2200 using archival inks & papers.
