Cathryn Peters is a self-taught, full-time wicker restoration specialist and antler basketmaker, working in the basketry and wicker restoration fiber field since 1975. Her fields of expertise are in wicker furniture restoration, seat weaving of all kinds and antler basketmaking.
For over 30 years, Cathryn has served as a consultant for the antique wicker furniture industry, and is also a national basketry and seat weaving workshop leader, basket pattern author, writer and speaker.
For 11 years Cathryn owned and operated THE WICKER WOMAN, a retail storefront business in Zumbro Falls, MN, and has now relocated to northeastern Minnesota. In 2002 Cathryn sold her weaving studio building, (but not the business or name), and moved to Angora, MN, near Cook.
She has now semi-retired, after over 30-years in the wicker furniture industry and has significantly reduced the amount of wicker restoration projects she's undertaking. She devotes her time to teaching and writing about basketry, wicker restoration and seat weaving. And markets her one-of-a-kind, original design, deer antler basketry through art galleries, exhibitions and through her website.
WickerWoman.com, online since 1999, features Cathryn's antler basket sculptures as well as providing free resources and information for antique wicker furniture lovers, seatweavers and basketmakers alike.
At the website you can purchase Cathryn's antler baskets and antler basket patterns; get all your questions about chair caning and wicker furniture answered on the Wicker & Cane FAQ page and Articles page; purchase cane and basket materials through the Cane & Basket Suppliers tab; and find experts to repair your furniture through the Furniture Repair Directory!
