Civic Stage
Jon Ferguson is an actor, director, filmmaker and instructor of physical theatre. He was born in Durham, England. He trained as an actor, at Middlesex University in London with leading physical theatre practitioner John Wright. Jon assisted and performed in numerous John Wright workshops and master-classes throughout the UK: Mask Studio - London, Actors Centre - London, Kendal International Mime Festival, Liverpool Actors Centre, London International Mime Festival. Jon has acted, directed, and taught physical theatre, clown and play creation extensively in the UK, Europe and the US. Since the mid 90’s he has worked with some of the leading physical theatre and clown companies in the UK. Productions he has been involved in have received critical praise and awards, including: Time Out London Critic’s Choice, Sunday Times Ensemble award and Best Comedy Awards. Jon first performed in Minneapolis, at the 2002 Minnesota Fringe Festival, in the hit, ‘Shakespeare for Breakfast’, which he co-directed. He recently performed in ‘The Awesome 80’s Prom’ at Hennepin Stages. He is a performer in ‘Breaking Ice’ at Pillsbury House on a regular basis. In the summer of 2005 Jon directed and co-created the play, ‘Please Don’t Blow Up Mr. Boban’, which was the #1 show at the 2005 Minnesota Fringe Festival, it played to sold out houses and received rave reviews. ‘Please Don’t Blow Up Mr. Boban’, was recently chosen by the Star Tribune as the Outstanding Experimental Theater Production of 2005 and the Minneapolis City Pages selected Jon as a 2005 Artist of the Year. He recently directed and co-created “We Are Ugly But We Have the Music”. In the Summer of 2006 he will be creating a new piece of theater with 10 teenagers entitled, “Kill The Robot”. He is a resident artist at Stages Theatre Company. He is now a Minneapolis resident, and a holder of an 0-1 Artist Visa, for artists of extraordinary ability. Jon is open to suggestion.
