I stopped making art almost completely after dealing with some arrogant and nasty gallery owners. I thought: "Why put myself through all this constant attitude bullshit - especially when it's coming out of the mouths of twenty-somethings - not to mention that I'm getting nothing in the process?" And so I simply stopped. Recently - my husband bought me cartload of new equipment - and software - left it all on my work table - without speaking a word. I got the hint. Some weeks later - I'm back at it - with my "fuck you if you don't like my art" retort ready to fire off on any who dare tread on this old tomcat's tail...Ha!!!
I really like the idea of this project because we are doing a simple gesture for these kids, but it really means a lot to them. The best of this project was getting to see how happy they were to recieve their prints. We live so far away from eachother, yet we are connected by this small thing.
We were creating a storyline involving chimney sweeps in the 1920s.The coloring of the outdoors always inspires me when it snows. Everything is dulled down and slightly dark, even during the middle of the day - but it is still beautiful, in its own way. I also really enjoy the stark contrast between freshly fallen snow and the landscape that it covers.
