This set design/installation took over the entire footprint of Intermedia's theatre, lobby and gallery spaces. It was in place November 1-10, 2012, viewable during the daytime gallery hours, and used in performances in the evenings.
The participatory performance, ¡Viva la Soul Power! took over the entire footprint of Intermedia Arts’ theatre, lobby and gallery spaces; As set/installation designer, I transformed each of these areas into interactive spaces for audience & performers: a bicycle bar, water world, dining hall and kitchen apothecary.
The bicycle bar, where audiences first entered and enjoyed smoothies made by a bike-powered blender during pre-show; the performance surrounded them.
The dining hall, filled with audience members. Using a rascuache aesthetic, I created tables out of abandoned doors, which were propped on cardboard boxes. Diners sat on 5 gallon buckets. Napkins were handmade of repurposed fabric.
