"Art in Bloom 2016": It's not too often that my floral arrangement process begins with "Empty ammo out of ammo can".
This year my chosen artwork -Peace Concluded- is a painting depicting a wounded soldier and his family at the end of the Crimean War. The family is comfortable, weary, relieved.
But war is timeless and peace, like flowers, is fleeting.
So this year I acknowledged the timeless aspect of war, and paid tribute to soldiers and veterans. Along with the WWII ammo can there are VFW buddy poppies, a POW/MIA pin, and a small Silver Star for Valor in this floral arrangement.
I'll also hand out my surplus VFW poppies to veterans who stop by to smell the flowers. Please do come and see all the wonderful arrangements at "Art in Bloom" this weekend. Admission is free.
