A misty, mystical, dreamy marsh scene.
My artistic expressions are an outgrowth of an attempt to “see clearly and intensely”. “Seeing” in this way is a heightened sense of awareness involving one’s whole being. It is more than normal perception or “looking”. “Seeing clearly” requires being fully aware so that one may discover the spirit and general truths that exist in the world we perceive.
Love and respect for nature inspires my art. Images are derived from sketches and observations of nature. My watercolors are not intended to be a literal description or representation of a specific time or place. Rather, the intent is to represent an idea state that is the embodiment of the spirit of nature. The original sketches and observations are altered and refined in the studio. Composition, form, color, light and brushwork are the focus. Multiple layers of transparent washes are employed to create the image.
