This painting is the third in a series entitled "Gilded Filth". This series explores the different, conflicting messages of a consumer product throughout time. In the not too distant past, cigarettes were the symbol of beauty and reflected an element of "cool". Now, they are seen as dirty habits, called "cancer sticks" and packaged in images of black lungs. I combined the two extreme views of one object in each painting, featuring beautiful girls and dirty surroundings. All paintings were created with watercolor, pencil, and ink on cardboard.
