Based on the painting "Watchers in the Night" by Thomas Blackshear.
"For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways." Psalm 91:11
About this piece: Although it started as a commission, I quickly found myself connecting with this piece. The boy in the drawing reminds me so much of my own sons. Every night we tuck them soundly into their beds and then leave the room... we step away, trusting fully that they are safe. This picture depicts one angel warrior standing guard, with light and spear at the ready, but in reality I imagine an entire army surrounding each boys' bed, fulfilling God's promise to shield us from harm. We pray for their physical safety in this world, but rest well knowing that no true eternal harm can come their way. The sleeping boy in the picture goes beyond representing my own sons, but also stands for all of God's children. I hope that everyone who sees this piece finds comfort in the great security that they have.
