6_17_2018, 4:07 p.m. Grandma’s Eleanore’s black embroidery floss on gold lame, 155” x 58”
During a conversation on June 16th with a friend Laurie M. came up with the word JUDGEMENT to be her next embroidered word. Taking gold lame fabric she had bought the day after the election of 45 at Halsey Street Fabrics in Newark, NJ. It was originally intended for another work based upon her original work UNTIED KINGDOM, after Brexit. Complete with a sketch of the color breakdown of all letter forms. Laurie M. could not bring herself to embroider it. It seemed the perfect fabric for the word and its multi-layered meaning in Laurie M’.s personal, familial and societal life. Judgement is one of the words that Laurie M. dislikes as a trait in humanity.
