~~ I came up with the concept of this work Noon one day after looking at photos of a WW1 battlefield. Artillery shells strewn across the land, some intact others just fragments. The picture must have been taken around noon as the shadows of the picture are almost nil.
This work reflects that photo. The base is the shadow of the shell. The flowers grow from the shell because of the rain water trapped and are fed from the remains of the nitrites in the explosives mixed with the mud that flowed in as the shell was exposed to the spring rains.
No matter how violent man is, nature will reclaim and flourish in time
