Nostalgia Machine is an ode to our neighborhoods, our roots and the mundane experience of residential life. When days blend together, when everything seems to move slower, we become lulled into passive pastimes, letting our attentions unleashed and sloth overcome us. Cold weather does something to many of us, but is an important time for self-loathing and meditation on things past. Though this installation is a critique of the sedentary, it is also it’s homage, a stumbling reflection turning minutes of boring existence into altered beauty. Nostalgia Machine is a tribute to sub-sonic frequencies, to altered states, DJ Screw and Lou Reed, to ecstasy and ennui, to everything and nothing.
