“In her “One Line” body of works, Emily C. K. Hoisington uses continuous lines to show encounters between a person and their environment. By using parts of the same line to show, for example, both the contour of a finger and the texture it is touching, the subject and object become connected.” Emily Hoisington’s exhibition of drawings and books from “One Line” are on view at the Gage Family Gallery at Augsburg College from May 12 to August 7, 2016.
Beyond an Artist Talk with Emily Hoisington was an event organized with The Drawing Project that invited participants to engage with the artist and the artform. After an introductory presentation of the work in Augsburg’s Gage Family Gallery by the artist we moved to the Augsburg Quad for an artist’s drawing demo. Participants created one-line drawings on sidewalks in the Quad and in personal and collaborative meander books.
