The toughest part of travel photography for me is getting a photo of a place at the optimal time. The lighting needs to be right, the scene needs to be correct, etc, etc, etc. A subject like the Golden Gate Bridge requires good timing, as there are thousands of images of it and many of these are quite fantastic with fog or night lighting. This isn't a great photo of the bridge, but it shows what can happen with good timing--I was very lucky to get this image. Ten minutes after this photo was taken, the fog was gone, the ship was gone--nothing left but a nice looking bridge.
