Living where we receive snow 5 months annually causes me to think about “snow” a lot, recognizing its beauty surrounding us, whether looking from inside our home, or enjoying on snowshoes. Some cultures, like the Inuit, Yupik, and Sami peoples, have many words for “snow” and “ice”. The Norwegians vocabulary also contains many references to snow and ice. Viewing from our windows, I mostly see color and texture variations in the snowdrifts and banks around us, dotted with tracks of wildlife. I chose to use fabric selections to illustrate our view.
