Although I wouldn’t have known much about the title “artist” when I was young, I drew, made dolls, clothes, wreathes, and partook in many other artistic ventures.
My works are mixed-media: (greeting cards, notebooks, canvas paper), paintings (water color, acrylic), small clay creatures, drawings (colored pencil, water color pencils), and collage.
I concentrate quite a bit on color combinations, both in order to balance the composition as a whole and to get an overall “feel” for the piece as I work through it.
I create art for many reasons. It’s stimulating, creative, life-affirming, adventurous, and the results are always surprising and something I look forward to. I also am spurned on artistically when making or decorating items as gifts.
In the future I’d like to try all kinds of materials in order to make new pieces and learn techniques that I haven’t yet been introduced to. I’d also enjoy taking in as many artistic venues as possible, such as museums, galleries, and art centers. Learning about artists both past and present is an interest of mine.
