C'mon now...we know you're out there...

Give us a quick "hello" so we don't feel like we're in a sociology experiment here.

No way! We don't even know each other yet. Maybe the use of real names gives the illusion of "horribly insidery nature". I don't know, I'm an outsider artist myself.

Re:sociology experiment

This is the story of 7 strangers picked to frequent the message boards and have their words recorded to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real.

Does it really feel insidery? The way I got inside was to just start posting. There's plenty of room inside!! YAY!

That's what I thought! Everyone here has been really nice and welcoming - and still not afraid to have a heated exchange...

I hope it's not insidery...

I'm in the process of doing some checking on what the "acceptable" or "normal" lurker to poster ratio is. I know it depends on the type of discussion that's going on. More on that soon.

I know that having some lurkers around is a positive thing, most definitely. You want lurkers and posters.

To address another issue. This community is only "insidery" in the sense that everyone here is an artist. Some non-artists may not relate to many of the conversations or may not even be aware of the mnartists.org site/community in the course of their daily lives.

That issue aside, I think the core group here has done a good job to welcome new people who post. This is an important thing to do whenever a brand new person posts ... as it's disheartening to make your first post and then not get a single acknowledgment.

One of the reasons I started the "story never ends" thread was to see how well we could get inside each other's minds, and follow a common idea.(or expand on it)

I don't think any of us could be described as "insiders" just yet.
