Not sure if this is the right page for this...but here goes - Does any one know of a violin repair shop/person who can repair the scroll on a violin? My son dropped it..and we've already replaced it with a new one.(the music must continue!)I just dont know who to call....OR would anyone be interested in a broken violin..?It needs some REAL work though...Fair Warning...-H
Hey, H! I'M INTERESTED IN A BROKEN VIOLIN.
However.., if you'd like to keep it and want to see if it can be repaired (would it be nice to have a spare?).. I've got a couple of suggestions. First, is Givens Violins (1004 Marquette Ave., Suite 205, 612-375-0708, http://www.givensviolins.com ). They're wonderful people who really know these instruments. Now that I think of it, I know of two or three other violin shops but Givens is the one I know well. Let me know if you want me to get all the names and numbers of all the other ones. I think even Hoffman Guitars (2219 E. Franklin Ave., 338-1079, http://www.hoffmanguitars.com ) might be worth asking.. Kevin works on mandolins.. and I believe he might even do some work on "fiddles."
So, there are a couple of suggestions. Let me know if you want the names and numbers of those other violin shops. None of them are close to where you live. If that's a problem you could give them a call and tell them what's going on, then they could tell you what to expect and maybe they could suggest a place near you. And, if you decide not to fix it and want it to go away.. I'm very interested. What are you asking for it and can you email a picture to me?
