CALL FOR ARTISTS!
A Juried Exhibition, Brooklyn, NY, June 26 - July 26, 2019
440 Gallery, an artist-run space in Brooklyn, NY announces an open call for the 14th Annual Theme Show. The topic for the 2019 national juried exhibition is LIGHT. We are interested in seeing interpretations of the theme as created by contemporary artists at all levels of professionalism and experience.
Whether we seek light as a physical object or observe it as a metaphysical presence, it is the play of light and shadow that uniquely informs our human vision. In simpler terms, light gives life; under certain circumstances light also facilitates destruction. Capturing light in visual terms has always been a crucial element in traditional painting. With multi-media, installation, and conceptual-based artwork, light takes on an equally important role for the artist.
Show us what the concept of Light means to you.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, May 17 at midnight EST
