Seeking Itasca area artists (Grand Rapids, Itasca County, the Leech Lake Reservation, and surrounding area) to lead local engagement projects for the Rural Arts and Culture Summit.
Proposal Deadline: 11:59pm, June 1, 2019
The Rural Arts and Culture Summit is seeking proposals from artists and creatives who live, work or have a connection to the Itasca area (Grand Rapids, Itasca County, the Leech Lake Reservation, and surrounding area) for small projects that welcome and engage Summit participants with the local stories, culture, and identity of the community and surrounding region.
3-5 artists or teams of artists will be selected to lead projects. Project support can range from $500 to $1500. The Rural Arts and Culture Summit will take place October 3 – 5, 2019 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. The deadline to submit your idea is June 1, 2019. Artists will be notified of their proposal status by June 15, 2019.
Projects can include but aren’t limited to: maps of the area, chapbooks of writing, t-shirts or other swag, installations, chalk poetry, activities that spark interaction/conversation, etc. Since the Rural Arts and Culture Summit already has a set schedule, we encourage and will prioritize projects that can engage with participants spontaneously or during breaks and informal transition times, rather than standalone events or performances. Please see our schedule at a glance to get an idea of where participants will be spending time during the Summit.
